Tax Forms and Filing Assistance

The library will receive a limited number of the most-commonly requested federal tax forms and instructions. They will be located in the lobby. Printed copies of the New Jersey state tax forms are no longer sent to libraries. Ask at the Adult Reference desk for assistance with downloading and printing forms.

Federal Tax Forms and Publications

There are a number of ways to access federal tax forms.

Please note: The Form 1040A and Form 1040EZ are no longer in use. They were replaced by the redesigned Form 1040 that was released in 2020. Many people will only need to file Form 1040 and no schedules. However, if your return is more complicated (for example you claim certain deductions or credits, or owe additional taxes) you will need to complete one or more of the new Form 1040 Schedules. For information and instructions related to the revised 1040 form and schedules go to:

New Jersey Tax Forms and Publications

There are a number of ways to access New Jersey state tax forms.  New Jersey no longer mails Income Tax forms except for the New Jersey Resident Return (NJ-1040). If you filed a paper return last year, you can expect to receive your new tax booklet in January. You may request a return if you have not received one by the second week of February. You may also access most forms online (see below).
