GREEN STORYTIME
Green Storytime is a new preschool program for children ages 3 – 6, that will meet
Fridays, February 19 – March 12, at 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. Join us for fun
environmental stories and activities. Franklin Lakes residents may sign-up on
Monday, February 8. Out of town residents may sign-up on Wednesday, February 17.

TOT-TIME
Tot-Time for pre-schoolers ages 30 months to 5 years, this program features
seasonal crafts, stories, music, and free play.  All children must be 30 months of
age by January 19, when the first session begins.

The first session of Tot-time will meet Tuesday, January 19 – February 9 or
Thursday, January 21- February 11, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. or 1:15 – 2:15 p.m.
Franklin Lakes residents sign-up Monday January 11.  Out of town residents sign-up
on  January 15.

The second session of Tot-time is scheduled on Tuesday March 9 – March 30, and
Thursday March 11 – April 1 at 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. or 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. Franklin lakes
residents sign –up Monday March 1.  Out of town residents may sign-up, Friday March 5.
HEART TO HEART
Valentine’s Day Craft and stories for children in K-2, is scheduled Wednesday
February 10 at 4:15 – 5:15 p.m.. Franklin Lakes residents can sign-up on Monday,
February 1. Out of town residents may sign-up on Monday February 8, providing space
is available.
P.I.N.T

Welcome to the P.I.N.T Center for newborns to 30 months,
Session I meets Fridays, January 8 - January 29 from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. or 10:30 -
11:15 a.m. Registration for Franklin Lakes residents begins Monday, December 28.
Out-of-town residents may register, Wednesday, January 6.

Session II meets Wednesdays, February 24 - March 17 from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. or 10:30
- 11:15 a.m. Registration for Franklin Lakes residents begins Friday, February 12.
Out-of-town residents may register Monday, February 22.

HOMEWORK HELPERS

Homework Helpers is a program designed to help children in grades k-5 with their homework assignments by High School volunteers..  This program is Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. The program will start up again
Tuesday, January 5 to Thrusday, February 11, and will not meet during the winter
break week, February 15 - February 19. Homework Helpers will return Tuesday,
February 23 to Thrusday, April 8th. Homework Helpers will not meet the week of April
12 - 16.

MARDI GRAS PARTY
Are you in Grade 2-5?
Don’t miss out! Here is your chance to celebrate the biggest party of the year.
Let’s ring in Mardi Gras together at the Franklin Library. Join us for this annual
New Orleans jamboree. Decorate a mask, play games, win prizes, and munch on King Cup Cakes.
 
Our Mardi Gras Party will take place at the Franklin Lakes Library on Thursday,
February 18th from 4:15-5:15 p.m. Registration is required, and will begin for
Franklin Lakes residents on Tuesday, February 9th. Out of town registration begins
on Monday, February 15th.
CALL MY BLUFF
Attention word game lovers in grades 3-6 who like to write, laugh and have fun. The
Franklin Lakes Library challenges you to “Call My Bluff”. The rules are simple…each
team receives a word and provides 3 definitions. It’s up to the other team to decide
which is true and which is made up. But which one?? There will be two session of
“Call My Bluff”. You may come to just one, or join us for both sessions:
Session 1 -Thursday, February 11 from 4:15 – 5:15 p.m.
Session 2- Friday, February 12 from 4:15 – 5:15 p.m.

Registration is required. Franklin Lakes residents may sign up beginning Monday,
February 1. Out of town residents may sign up beginning Monday, February 8.
DR. SEUSS READ ACROSS AMERICA WITH BRIAN RICHARDS
Join us on Wednesday, March 3 at 4:15 - 5:15 p.m. for a Doctor Seuss, Read Across
America Magic and Reading Program, with Brian Richards. This show is designed to
tickle the imagination, highlight the fun of reading, and encourage children to
explore the library. It features magic, comedy, audience participation, Dr. Seuss
books, and educational fun. Franklin Lakes’ residents may sign-up on Monday,
February 22. Out-of-town residents may register Monday, March 1.
No registration required.
HOW TO RAISE A READER
Join us for an informative evening to hear the Director from Saddle River Day Care
present “How to Raise a Reader,” Thursday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. Sign-up begins
Monday February 22. Out-of-town residents may register, providing space is
available, on Tuesday, March 2. Please call the children’s department for more
details.
STUDY BUDDIES

Study Buddies  is a new homework help program designed for sixth graders at FAMS.  Each child will have access to a computer to help with homework needs and will be able to study together for assignments.  This program meets Wednesdays, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. beginning Wednesday, January 13.

JUNIOR BOOK BUDDIES
Book discussion for grades 2 & 3, meets the FIRST Thursday of every month from 4:15
- 5:15 p.m.
January 7 at 4:15 - 5:45 Book to be discussed is "How to Eat Fried Worms," by Thomas
Rockwell, followed by the movie.
February "The Elevator Family,' by Douglas Evans.
 
Double Digits is a book discussion for children in grades 4, 5 & 6. The group meets
the last Thursday of every month from 4;00 – 5;00 p.m.  Registration is on-going.
December’s book club will meet on December 17 because of the Holiday.
December 17 - "Tuck Everlasting" by Natalie Babbitt
January 28 - "Everything for a Dog" by Ann Martin.

In honor of the Winter Olympics, join us in a Laugh Olympics Drop-in Movie,
Wednesday, February 17, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. If you like Disney films, winter
sports and laughter, then join us for this classic film. No registration required.
WINTER OLYMPICS JEOPARDY
Winter Olympics Jeopardy for children in grades 4-6, Friday, February 19 at 1:00
p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Franklin Lakes residents only to register for this fun program
beginning Monday, February 8. Test your knowledge of the Winter Olympics and join in some fun completive questions and answers. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. This program is co-sponsored by the Franklin Lakes Recreation Department.
DIARY OF A WIMPY KID PARTY
Calling all kids in grades 4,5 and 6 who laughed at Greg’s adventures in The Last
Straw. Join us at the WIMPY KID PARTY and play the CHEESE TOUCH GAME, the FREGLEY GAME and the PERSONALITY GAME. Thursday, March 11 from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Franklin Lakes residents may sign up on Monday, February 22, Out of town may sign up on Monday, March 1.
LEGO CONTEST
Back by popular demand! The Franklin Lakes Library LEGO contest on Wednesday, March 31 from 4:15-6:00 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Franklin Lakes Recreation Department. For Franklin Lakes residents only in grades k and up. All construction must be done on site-no pre-made pieces please. Registration begins Monday, March 22.
